A word of explanation

Psychologists have postgraduate training in psychotherapy, behavior modification and other non-medication methods to help individuals, couples and families deal with mental health problems. The designations PhD, PsyD and EdD indicate those who have completed the additional education required for a doctorate-level degree. After their training, psychologists gain experience under the supervision of other licensed psychologists prior to being licensed by the state to provide psychotherapeutic services.
