A word of explanation

Psychiatrists are physicians who are licensed to practice medicine (and prescribe medications plus other "biological" treatments). After medical school, they attend specialized training in the field of psychiatric medicine, which covers psychotherapy and the evaluation and treatment of substance abuse, as well as biological treatments for mental health problems.   Child psychiatrists (designated by *) then undergo the additional training involved in a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
